South Westland Martial Arts


Was formulated by Sifu Steve Henery. Steve has 31 year's experience in the Martial Arts of:
Judo, Tae Kwon Do, Kung Fu, Tai Chi Chuan and the practice of Yoga. Steve has no formal affiliations.

Twenty of those years Steve trained with Master Chan Seng Chee, Gaining his Black belt in 1986 and Third Degree Black belt in 2000. The Art is also influenced by Sifu's seminar experiences with:

* Profesor Yek Ding Ong's Tai Chi Chuan
* Profesor Wally Jay's Small circle Jui Jitsu
* Master George Dilman's Presure Point Karate
* Sifu James De Mile's Wing Chun Kung Fu, and
* Master Chai Sirsute's Thai Boxing

South Westland Martial Art

Is designed to maximize an individuals potential by teaching a wide range of techniques to suit the student's:

...Size, Age, Strength, Flexibility, Personality, and Personal Goals...

A Typical Class consists of:

* A warm up strength and fitness session
* Technique and cardio vascular workout
* Cool down and streatch routine finish


The Art draws strongly on the Tai Chi Chuan. Ying Yang theory of harmonious natural balance. In a martial art context this means to over come force by means of yeilding and technique. Soft against hard, not force against force. this way of training enhances the student's health and minimizes risk of injury.

Who Can Train

Anyone from approx 8 years can train in Kung Fu Families especially are encouraged to train together. The Henery family has three Black Belts and two more on the way.
