Build your own Computer
then take it home!

Take a working computer apart and put it back together installing and learning about all the hardware and software.

This event is for Yr7 up including secondary students and adults with an interest in computers. We welcome parents who would like to participate and work with their children (at no extra cost). The cost is only $30 per person/computer and you are able to take the computer home at no extra cost.

Participants will:

o Take apart a working PC and rebuild it from scratch
o Examine the BIOS (basic input output system)
o Install and learn about all components
o Format the Hard Drive
o Install the Operating System
o Learn about the Device Manager
o Install specific drivers for their PC and find out how to download drivers as required
o Install the Open Office Suite
o Install and update antivirus software
o Install a firewall
o Install and update spyware detection and removal tools

Take home an internet-ready computer with the following features:
o System Unit & Monitor
o Licensed Operating System (Probably Windows 98)
o Freeware software combo including Open Office Suite, Antivirus, Firewall, and Spyware removal tools.
o A CD with all the drivers specific to the PC

Date and time: April Mon 20th 9-4pm and Tues 21st 9 until around 1pm
